How to start a Community
Communities are persistent professional spaces for ongoing conversation. They are intentionally simpler than Slack or Discord: a stream, replies, mentions, and community rooms.
Steps
- Go to Communities and tap Create Community.
- Choose a name, description, and photo header that reflects the group.
- Set the community to public (discoverable) or private (invite or member-request only).
- Owners and admins can pin messages, moderate posts, and start rooms under the community.
- Members can post messages, reply, mention others, share files, photos, and GIFs, and react.
- Community creators have limits: 2 communities for free users, 5 for Premium.
Community rooms and episodes
Owners and admins can open public or member-only audio rooms under a community. Premium hosts can download a room's recording, edit it, and upload it as an episode (up to 500 MB) for members or the public.
Nonprofit Communities
Nonprofit leaders can request verification. Convenabl checks the organization's IRS record and reviews it before a Verified badge and Donate link appear. Donations go straight to the nonprofit's own page — Convenabl never handles the money.
